The Hyundai Elantra is one of the best-known sedans on the road today, offering authoritative performance at every level as well as top technology features and a spacious, luxuriously appointed cabin. It's also a joy to drive whether you're just heading to the grocery store or you're on a cross-country drive.
Of course, these days fuel economy is also always an important factor, and with that in mind, San Leandro Hyundai is here to get you out on the San Leandro, Fremont, and San Jose roads with this report on the Hyundai Elantra MPG.
The Hyundai Elantra has three engine options in its lineup. Two gas engines and the fourth is a hybrid model.
The base engine is an inline-four at 2.0 liters with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque paired with the Intelligent Variable Transmission. Next up is a 1.6-liter inline-four with 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Finally. We get to the hybrid powertrain. This one is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder mated to a rechargeable battery. It generates a total system output of 139 horsepower and is paired to a standard six-speed automatic transmission.
The base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine gets an EPA-estimated 33 MPG in the city and 43 MPG on the highway, for a combined mileage of an EPA-estimated 37 MPG.1 The 1.6-liter inline-four engine, which is equipped in the N-Line trim level, gets up to an EPA-estimated 28 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.1
Finally, we get to the available Hyundai Elantra hybrid powertrain. This one combines highly respectable performance with a whopping EPA-estimated 53 MPG on city streets and 56 MPG on the highway.2 With that sort of efficiency, you can drive around for hundreds of miles in between stops at the gas station!
The standard engine in the Hyundai Elantra is also equipped with Idle Stop & Go. This added feature actually allows the engine to recognize when you come to a complete stop and shut off to conserve fuel while you wait at a red light or in traffic. Then when you are ready to start moving again, the engine will seamlessly start right back up the moment you take your foot of the brake pedal. This is just one of the many reasons why the Elantra is able to provide such great gas mileage.
The Hyundai Elantra MPG is beyond impressive and it's sure to get you a long way between trips to the gas station. It also, however, offers a range of other features like impressive active intelligent safety technology including crash mitigation, driver attention warning, and collision avoidance assistance.
If you'd like to get out on the roads of San Leandro, Fremont, or San Jose in this efficient ride, we can help. Just stop by San Leandro Hyundai today to get behind the wheel for a test drive.
