Choosing the 2022 Hyundai Kona may feel like the end stage of your selection, but what trim levels do you like? The Kona offers four trim levels—the SE, SEL, N Line, and Limited—so San Leandro, Fremont, and San Jose, California, shoppers have plenty to consider. Keep reading, and San Leandro Hyundai will run down the trims and their corresponding features.
Split down the middle, the first half of the trims, SE and SEL, use the 2.0L MPI 4-cylinder engine with Intelligent Variable Automatic Transmission. The second half, the N Line and Limited, derives their power from a 1.6L Turbo GDI 4-cylinder engine, accompanied by a 7-speed EcoShift® Dual Clutch Transmission with SHIFTRONIC®.
Depending on your chosen Kona drivetrain, it may determine what type of gas mileage you can expect. With FWD (Front Wheel Drive) in place in the SE and SEL, it achieves an EPA-estimated 30 city/35 highway MPG.* With FWD, the N Line and Limited trims achieve an EPA-estimated 29 city/35 highway MPG.*
If you prefer the available All Wheel Drive Active On-Demand drivetrain, your stats contrast with the other ones. With this configuration, SE and SEL drivers can expect to achieve an EPA-estimated 28 city/33 highway MPG.* Coming close, the N Line and Limited trims achieve an EPA-estimated 27 city/32 highway MPG.*
Establish your preferred indoor temperature by choosing your air ventilation first. Manual air conditioning ventilates SE and SEL trims, while automatic temperature control can distribute the airflow in the two highest trims. This feature is also available in SEL. If fresh air feels less confining, choose the power sunroof, which is available in SEL and N Line trims and standard in Limited trim.
Cloth furnishes seats in the SE and SEL, while the Limited receives leather-trimmed seats. Exclusive to the N Line, you’ll get N Line Sport cloth seating. A leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob are either standard or available on every trim but the SE.
Heated front seats may outfit each trim, too, except for the SE. In the SE and SEL, a 6-way adjustable driver seat morphs to your level, while N Line and Limited operators gain an 8-way power driver seat.
Your dashboard may appear different from another driver’s according to the trim you select. For the SE through N Line, a 4.2-inch color Multi-Information Display sits behind the wheel. The upgraded 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster comes in the Limited and can be added to the N Line.
Same for the touchscreens. The first three trims can view the 8-inch touchscreen display audio system, while the 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system is available in the N Line trim and standard in the Limited trim.
If you’re ready to ditch the extra cords, wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® can be found in the SE through N Line trims. A corded version of this feature can be added to the N Line and comes standard in the Limited. To refresh your phone in the Kona, the available wireless device charging system (for supported devices) is an optional feature in the SEL through Limited trims.
Some features, like the Rear View Monitor (RVM) with parking guidance and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with 4-wheel disc brakes, are standard in all trims. Other handy systems can be added to most trims, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection (FCA-Ped) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW). The Limited harnesses countless standard features, including Parking Distance Warning – Reverse. This feature focuses its attention on your parking skills when backing out.
